Politico reported Tuesday that conservative political news website Breitbart and liberal activist Aaron Black had a secret partnership during the Republican presidential primaries, where Black would give Breitbart advanced notice before disrupting Sen. Marco Rubio’s campaign rallies.
Mr. Black is an associate with progressive consulting firm Democracy Partners and a former Occupy Wall Street organizer. According to a Politico source, Black conspired with Breitbart, communicating about the timing of his Rubio interruptions.
Both parities seemed to have a common goal at the time: to stir up bad press for the Florida senator. In one of the more nationally covered stunts, Black donned a full-sized robot costume and interrupted a Rubio event in New Hampshire. Breitbart, a news shill for Republican nominee Donald Trump, was intent on raking in negative publicity for Rubio.
Trump even hired Breitbart chairman Stephen Bannon as his campaign’s CEO in August.
According to Politico’s source, Black “worked directly with Breitbart’s political team on the ground in the primary states to sabotage Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, and elect Trump as nominee.”
Mission accomplished. In a divisive and tense political atmosphere it’s nice to know people can still come together over their mutual loathing of someone else. Congratulations to both Breitbart and Black for showing everyone what bipartisanship really looks like.
