Huma Abedin throws hubby Weiner overboard

Long suffering the public humiliation of her husband’s mania with “sexting” countless unknown female companions in Twitterworld, Hillary Clinton confidante Huma Abedin separated from husband, former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner on Monday.

It is alleged the couple had been estranged for over one year.

“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy,” Abedin said in a statement Monday.

A recently-disclosed image of the disgraced ex-congressman in undergarments with his 4-year-old son Jordan lying in bed next to him appeared over the weekend in the New York Post, along with a sample of the lurid text exchange filled with sexual innuendo.

Weiner’s fondness for sexting first surfaced in May 2011 when he shared an image of himself in undergarments covering his erect penis with a woman on now-defunct image-hosting service yfrog.  After initially denying involvement and claiming he was the victim of hacking, Weiner angrily denounced media inquiries demanding to know why he had not contacted the FBI to investigate.

Faced with dwindling support among his congressional allies, Weiner resigned his U.S. House seat in June 2011.

Two years later, in the midst of his campaign for the mayorship of New York City, Weiner was exposed again for sexting women by website The Dirty.  As many as six women were alleged to have had exchanges with Weiner under his online sobriquet, Carlos Danger.

Following the revelations during his bid for Gracie Mansion, Weiner refused to abandon his campaign and was soundly defeated, earning less than 5 percent of the primary vote.

Mr. Weiner has not publicly commented on the latest scandal or his separation from Ms. Abedin.
