Federal and local authorities in San Diego are attempting to uncover the source of an advertisement discovered on Craigslist threatening the city’s homosexual community with a massacre similar to the June 12 rampage in Orlando, Florida.
Originally titled “We need more Orlandos (San Diego)”, the advertisement was placed in Craiglist’s “men seeking men” category and featured an image of a bullet being fired from a revolver.
The advertisement briefly appeared, was red flagged and removed, but not before the author of the notice captured the image and sent it to ABC affiliate, 10News San Diego.

The description beneath the image read: “Orlando was long overdue. Cleanse your community of the filth that gives decent gay men and women a bad name. Those people were walking diseases, bug chasers, and thank god for AIDS and 9-11 and now Orlando. San Diego you are next…”
Once alerted to the existence of the threat, San Diego Police Chief Shelly Zimmerman released a statement which read:
“The San Diego Police Department is aware of a recent post on Craigslist that has since been removed. We are investigating it collaboratively with our law enforcement partners. The latest information remains, there are no known credible threats to the San Diego region. As always, we encourage our community if they see something, hear something, or know something, to say something.”
