Sanders demands ouster of two DNC officials from convention

Claiming two key Democrats in critical convention roles are hostile to his campaign, Democratic spoiler Bernie Sanders has called for former Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank and Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy to be removed from their posts overseeing DNC rules and policy.

The Sanders campaign referred to the two party officials as “aggressive attack surrogates” for Hillary Clinton.

Mr. Sanders is calling for Frank to be removed as leader of the rules committee and Malloy to be replaced as head of the platform committee.

Urging for their replacement in a letter to DNC rules and bylaws co-chairs James Roosevelt and Lorraine Miller, the Sanders campaign outlined their grievances:

“(Frank’s and Malloy’s criticisms) have gone beyond dispassionate ideological disagreement and have exposed a deeper professional, political and personal hostility toward the senator and his campaign.”

Rebuffing Sanders’ claims, Miller and Roosevelt responded:

“Your challenge does not allege that there was any other cognizable violation of the call in the conduct of their elections, the delegate selection rules for the 2016 Democratic National Convention, or any other rule or regulation of the Democratic National Committee in their selection.”

Sanders request has been effectively rejected, with the aforementioned chairs having found “that it fails to meet the criteria for the foregoing reasons and pursuant to the Regulations and Bylaws Committee”.
