Pro-Bernie Facebook pages bombarded with porn images

In what appears to be a coordinated attack, up to as many as five Facebook pages loyal to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders were overwhelmed with pornographic images and briefly shutdown.

The attacks began on Monday evening and persisted for several hours, before Facebook temporarily discontinued their operation.

“We had what looked like a kiddie porn posted in one of our groups today.  I reported that one. Seriously made me want to vomit,” posted one Facebook user, Erica Libenow, who reported the attack.

Numerous pornographic images were reported posted on Pro-Sanders’ sites and several were reported to have depicted acts of pedophilia.

Since Tuesday, the pro-Sanders Facebook pages have been restored and are fully functioning.

A Hillary Clinton supporter associated with the Facebook account bros4Hillary has been connected with the attacks.  A spokesman for the group identified the alleged perpetrator, claimed he was a former member of the group and issued a statement disavowing the attack.

A Facebook spokesperson reported several pro-Bernie Facebook pages were “inaccessible for a brief period,” but were operating after automated policies were corrected.

All of these cyberattacks occurred after Correct the Record, a pro-Hillary superPAC, loudly announced a $1 million online campaign to “push back” against “anti-Hillary” rhetoric on the web.
