Former Republican presidential candidate and current Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker endorsed Senator Ted Cruz’s bid for the GOP nomination on Tuesday.
In selecting Cruz over GOP front-runner Donald Trump and Ohio’s John Kasich, Walker declared Cruz, unlike Trump and Kasich, is a principled conservative who would come face to face with “big-government special interest groups” and return power back to states.
“I just fundamentally believe if you look at the facts, if you look at the numbers, that Ted Cruz is in the best position by far to both win the nomination of the Republican Party and to then go on and defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall this year,” Walker averred in his announcement supporting Cruz.
In announcing his support for the Texas senator, Walker underlined he did as much not to blunt either Kasich or Trump, but because he shares Cruz’s enthusiasm and identifies most closely with Cruz’s political positions.
“To me, I’m all in,” Walker told Milwaukee radio station WTMJ.
Walker joins governors Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Nikki Haley (R-SC), Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and over thirty members of the U.S. House of Representatives in endorsing Cruz.
