Wednesday night saw the second Republican presidential debate of the presidential season. The CNN GOP debate gave 11 of the remaining 15 candidates three hours to stake their claim at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
Carly Fiorina has been widely praised as winning the debate. Coming out strong against Donald Trump who criticized her appearance and was quoted by Rolling Stone as saying “look at that face!” he cries. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!”
Fiorina fired back at Trump both at the debate and after.
“It’s still different for a woman,” she said in an interview with CNN after the debate. “It’s only a woman whose appearance would be talked about while running for president — never a man, and I think that’s what women understand.”
A noticeable difference between this debate and the first was the preparedness that the other candidates had for Trump’s attacks.
Jeb Bush went after Trump over his knowledge of foreign policy accusing him of having a “lack of understanding about how the world works.”
Trump fired back at Bush saying that his brother’s presidency was a disaster, but Jeb Bush was quick to respond, asserting that W. “kept us safe.”
The remaining nine candidates on-stage had trouble distinguishing themselves, which can be difficult to do in a crowded field, even if you have three hours to do it.
