Oil spill at NJ pier

A tugboat caused an oil spill late Sunday evening after it ran into a pier in Bayonne, N.J, according to Reuters.

NJ Advance Media reported that the accident took place around 10 p.m. at International-Matex Tank Terminal in the Upper New York Harbor.

The Coast Guard is assisting with clean-up, and says the spill is relatively small, Reuters reports.

“Less than 1,000 gallons is believed to have spilled from the collision,” Coast Guard spokeswoman Sabrina Laberdesque said.

The pier is located approximately 10 miles south of Manhattan.
