On Tuesday real-estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump became the twelfth person to announce that he is running for the Republican nomination for President.
His announcement comes a day after former Florida Governor, Jeb Bush made his own announcement that he too was running.
“So, ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again,” said Trump in his announcement at Trump Tower in New York.
Trump claimed that he is “most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far,” and pointed out that he “Gucci store that’s worth more than Romney.”
Trump’s claims of success seem to over look some of his serious blunders of the past.
In 2009, Trump’s gambling company, Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. filed for chapter eleven bankruptcy protection for the third time.
There has long been speculation that the tycoon would join the Republican race, Trump made a brief foray into presidential politics last cycle in 2012.
Whether or not he will be successful this time remains to be seen, but Trump has been very vocal on political matters on social media. These past few months especially, have seen him go after candidates on both sides, but most of his focus has been against fellow Republican Jeb Bush.
Most recently, Trump sent out the following tweet after Bush’s announcement yesterday:
Do we really need another Bush in the White House— we have had enough of them. https://t.co/sbUVyBG6KE

There are now a total of 16 candidates for President from both parties, with four in the running for the Democratic nomination and 12 on the GOP side.
Stayed tuned as there are likely more to come.
