In an interview with columnist and talk show radio host Laura Ingram, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) admitted that as a good Catholic he had to give up something for Lent.
“I’m giving the New York Times up for Lent.” When the crowd cheered he added, “Don’t cheer, it’s bad news.”
He said his priest answered, “Chris, you have to give up something you’ll actually miss.”
As part of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Christie was interviewed in Maryland and had a lot to say regarding President Obama and the media. When asked about his famous handling of the heckler with the ‘Sit down and shut up’ line Christie did not hesitate in responding:
“Sometimes people need to be told to sit down and shut up.” He then fired a shot at President Obama, “Especially out of the White House someone should say it’s time to shut up.”
The governor also stated that despite the best efforts by opponents, “…here’s the bad news for them. Here I am and I’m still standing.”
