Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) unveiled some fiery verbiage at the Guantanamo Bay hearings on Thursday directing his anger toward those in favor of closing the much maligned detention facility. Using language that President Obama refuses to utter Sen. Cotton clearly stated, “Islamic Terrorists don’t need an excuse to attack the United States. They don’t attack us for what we do they attack us for who we are.”
The junior senator pressed his criticism further by characterizing President Obama’s decision to close Guantanamo as a “political decision made on the campaign trail.” Senator Cotton shared his strong view on the matter in his closing remarks:
“In my opinion, the only problem with Guantanamo Bay is that there are too many empty beds and cells there right now. We should be sending more terrorists there for further interrogation to keep this country safe.”
“As far I’m concerned, every last one of them can rot in hell. But as long as they don’t do that, they can rot in Guantanamo Bay.”
The silence that followed left many to ponder the two choices.
